What you get

You are looking at private tours, boat charters and jeep days that share a single trait: they are priced for the whole group rather than per person. This group contains 47 of 505 of the same kind on the site, making up 9 percent of the total selection. When you step into this selection, you will find experiences that run anywhere from 2.0 to 72.0 hours, with a middle point of 7.0 hours.

The operator sets the total figure upfront, so you check whether the quote covers your party or an individual seat before you commit. If you are weighing options across the wider site, you will notice that the Over €250 tier sits above the mid-range walks and bus routes, grouping together the longer excursions and dedicated hires. You decide how many people travel, how much time you have between flights, and whether you prefer a guided drive through the mountain roads or a crewed vessel leaving the marina.

The structure stays the same: you book a slot, meet the guide or captain at the agreed spot, and follow the itinerary until the timer runs out.

What these cost, and what you get for more

The entry prices stretch from €250 to €2,763, with a middle value of €397. That gap reflects the difference between a short afternoon outing and a multi-day expedition, as well as the size of the crew and vehicle required to run it. Because the fee covers the entire group, adding passengers usually does not change the headline number.

You should verify the exact capacity when you read the description, since some charters cap seats at four while others accommodate larger parties. Nearly every operator in this group offers free cancellation, covering all 47 listings, which gives you room to adjust your plans if weather shifts or your schedule changes. Language support is straightforward: 45 operators state that a guide speaks English, while one names other guide languages and does not list English.

Logistics vary across the board. Hotel pickup appears explicitly in 17 cases, remains explicitly absent in 8, shows up as a paid extra in 1, and stays unstated in 21. The same pattern applies to admission fees: 1 explicitly includes them, 11 explicitly excludes them, 0 appear as a paid extra, and 35 operators say nothing at all.

When the operator leaves admission unmentioned, you plan for both possibilities. The middle price of €397 typically lands you in the 4.0 to 6.0 hour window, often with hotel transfer and English-speaking guidance included. Stepping toward the lower end means accepting shorter durations or self-organised transfers.

Moving toward the upper end buys you extended time on land or water, larger vessels, or specialised equipment like hiking gear for the levada trails. You trade convenience and length for the final number, and every listing balances those variables differently.

How far to trust the ratings

The scores on this listing tell you less about quality and more about sample size. Out of the 47 listings, only 5 reach a score of 4.2 or higher with at least 10 votes. 0 listings sit between 3.5 and 4.2, and zero drop below 3.5.

Another 21 hold fewer than 10 votes, and 21 carry no votes at all. On a sound basis, meaning 10 votes or more, you have 5 entries to judge. Without a basis there remain 42. The rest lack the volume needed to form a reliable average.

A perfect 5.0 from 2 reviewers means the same thing as a 5.0 from 1 reviewer: the rating exists, but the evidence is thin. You weigh the height of the number against the count behind it, not the other way around.Funchal: Craft Your Adventure, private Jeep Tour w/ pick-up runs 8.5 hours, starts from 451 €, and holds a 5.0 from 14 votes under Remote Madeira. Private Group Sunset Yacht Tour in Madeira takes 2.5 hours, starts from 553 €, and holds a 5.0 from 4 votes under Chif & Co.

Private Group Yacht Cruise in Madeira with Drinks lasts 3 hours, starts from 693 €, and holds a 5.0 from 3 votes under Chif & Co. Private Madeira Coast Cruise with Swim, Snacks & Drinks also takes 2.5 hours, starts from 553 €, and holds a 5.0 from 3 votes under Chif & Co. Madeira: Private Custom Levada Hike with Transport & Guide spans 7.5 hours, starts from 300 €, and holds a 5.0 from 2 votes under Into The Wild Madeira.

Madeira in 1 day: Funchal & Eastern Highlights runs 8 hours, starts from 275 €, and holds a 5.0 from 1 vote under Go Local Madeira. East Madeira: Private Tour with Views & History takes 8 hours, starts from 275 €, and holds a 5.0 from 1 vote under Madeira Luxury Tours. Madeira: Exclusive Luxury Sunset Cruise lasts 3 hours, starts from 892 €, and holds a 5.0 from 1 vote under Luna Madeira.

Of these eight, 7 carry fewer than 10 votes. The list orders them by strength of evidence, but in a group this large it reaches past the solidly backed entries. You treat the 1-vote and 2-vote scores as early signals, not settled verdicts. Where the vote count drops, you look harder at the duration, the operator name, and the exact route before committing.

Which one to pick

You start by matching your available time to the duration range. If you have a single morning or afternoon, the 2.5 to 3.0 hour charters fit neatly into your schedule. If you want to stretch across a full day or split it over 2 days, you move toward the 7.0 to 8.5 hour blocks.

The 8.0 to 72.0 hour entries suit travellers who want to cover distance without rushing back to the harbour each evening. You filter by operator when you see a familiar name, since Chif & Co appears three times in the top eight, offering yacht-based itineraries that differ mainly in drink inclusion and length. Remote Madeira handles the jeep routes, while Into The Wild Madeira focuses on the walking trails.

You pick the activity that matches your energy level, then check the vote count behind the score. The 14-vote jeep tour carries the most weight, followed by the 4-vote sunset yacht and the 3-vote cruise options. The 1-vote hikes and luxury sailings work fine if you prioritise the specific route or operator over crowd-sourced feedback.

You draw a clear line between this tier and the surrounding categories. The €120 to €250 band holds 49 listings, mostly shorter guided walks and small-group drives that do not require a private hire. The €60 to €120 slice contains 159 entries, averaging brief sightseeing loops and public transport alternatives.

The €30 to €60 range packs 214 tours, dominated by local buses, city passes and quick museum shuttles. The Under €30 tier adds 36 items, usually standalone tickets or very short rides. Once you cross upward past €250, you leave those budget routes behind and enter the space reserved for dedicated crews, larger vessels and customised driving days.

The packages under €1,500 and the €1,500 to €3,000 brackets sit further up the scale, bundling accommodation and multi-day logistics rather than focusing on single excursion slots. You stay in this group if you want a clean, one-off hire with a fixed group price, clear English-language coverage on almost every listing, and the flexibility to cancel without penalty. You match the duration to your calendar, respect the vote count when reading the scores, and book the operator whose route aligns with the ground you want to cover.
