Planning a June stay

June is the start of the beach and boat season. The Lido complex charges €6 for an individual entry, and five of Funchal's bathing areas carry a Blue Flag in 2026: Barreirinha, Ponta Gorda-Poças do Governador, Clube Naval do Funchal, Formosa and the Lido itself. Evenings on the Saturdays of the Atlantic Festival are busy along the seafront, so plan dinner around the fireworks. The mountains are at their most accessible, and a sunrise at Pico do Areeiro is still cool enough to need a jacket.
